I (Guyfawkes) received a few emails asking why comments have not been made for the remaining entries. Due to time they havent been added to the page, I have got comments for most entries but they havent been made into readable content (quick summaries). I will try and get the comments online by the weekend for at least some of the entries.
Also a few people asked why there was no final summary, there has been since we posted the results and you can find it just after the winners results where summaries normally are ;)

Many apologies for the lateness in announcing the winners. This years competition was our hardest ever to judge. There were half a dozen or so entries that were deserving of the three winning places and we had a truly tough time deciding on them. There can however only be three winners and below you can find them.
1st Place - Sqdef

1st place prize of a next-gen handheld of his choice (GP2X, PSP or DS) + $250 + accessories.
A well presented entry with hours upon hours of playability. I think I must have one well over 12 hours in the past week (and more in previous weeks ;)) which is a lot for me as I tend to get bored of games much faster in my old age now! It has that 'one more go' factor which is one of the essential features of a great game.
2nd Place - Ozone

Excellent near commercial quality game, a lot of effort has gone into this. Smooth visuals and very addictive due to the simple and easy to understand gameplay. Well presented and impressive PSP game.Looking forward to more in the future from these guys.
3rd Place - Battlejewels

Skeezix really put a lot of effort into this up and coming game. It is already at a very good standard and only just pipped to the post by Ozone as it was a more complete game. This is a fun mix of puzzle and RPG which make it more interesting as its not the same puzzle over and over. As with all the entries I hope Skeezix continues work on this game which like the above is also of commercial quality.

As always a wide selection of entries and it seems every year the standard gets better and better. We are already dreading the judging on what next year will bring ;) Thanks again to everyone that took part in the competition but especially to the coders who make the GBAX coding competitions what they are! | The wait is over and the entries for the GBAX 2007 Coding Competition are now available to download! We had a massive turnout this year with 60 entries, the highest in our five year history! We would like to say a very big thanks to everyone that took part; the entrants, splash screen designers and web site owners that helped to promote the competition. Please help to promote the competition by clicking on the Digg link to the right. |
Below you can find all the entries (in alphabetical order) entered into the competition. Please try all the entries for your console(s) and don't judge an entry by it's screen shot as a game doesn't have to have amazing graphics to be great. In the following links you can download combined packs for GP2X, DS and PSP if you want to get all the consoles entries in one go. Feel free to talk about the entries on our forum posts on the Emuholic/Emuboards forums here (guest posting allowed) or on the GP32x forums here (free registration required).
The winners will be announced within a week or two once Craig and myself (Guyfawkes) have judged each entry.
Finally, please remember to visit GP2X.co.uk (GBAX) who provide the great prizes for the competition. As you will probably notice the majority of entries are for the GP2X which is a very active and popular development scene. You can purchase a GP2X from GP2X.co.uk and try all the entries ;)

It allows the user to check backlights, check if their device has a compatiable FAT driver, test the SRAM, check if their audio hardware is functioning correctly, check if their device supports GBA modes, tests WiFi by getting the DS's IP address, check for a Motion Card/Pak/MK6-Motion, check if there is a Rumble Pak inserted, check if their flashcart supports reseting from homebrew, tests the microphone to see if it is working, checks if the internal BootLoader of the GBAMP is functioning correctly by boot a .nds file of choice. Name: Fish Ball Author: Linus Platform: GP2X Description: Much like the Dali Lama, (which literally translates to, "ocean guru"), every so often a fish is spawned of great leadership with much wisdom and skills far above the rest and immediately recognized by all, in this game you are that fish. As you get close enough to the other fish they recognize you and turn from blue to yellow and begin to follow you and keep up as best they can. It is up to you to guide them to safety from the hungry orcas that keep appearing every 25 clicks on the clock craving yellow fish. The round ends when you are eaten or have greater ball shrinkage than ball swelling. You may then either re-spawn or hit any button for top score and exit.
